When ordering from the meals below $5 menu be sure and add up the items separately too. There is one breakfast combo I normally get but when gotten with OJ it is actually cheaper to order the items separately than having the special "combo". Interesting, but when you have a great waitress & you are a regular they watch out for you.
GO WAFFLE HOUSE!

Not all are created equal!
Left town for business recently; visited two Waffle Houses; One in Fla & another in north Georgia. Service was a little "iffy" in Florida and I had the worst tea ever in my life at the one in north Georgia. I will not name the locations but obviously managers at locations I normally frequent are much better at consistent food.
Overall, still pleased with Waffle House!

A place to be seen!
Waffle House is not only a great place to eat but over the years I have noticed many people visit their favorite location to be seen and see others! Some are ones looking for interaction with their favorite waitress while others enjoy the morning conversations at the counter. Whatever your reason for visiting, WH is a great restaurant to begin or end your day!

Pie Dish on the Counter!
I was actually thinking the other day about why WH took the pie dish off the counter tops? Rally for the come back of the counter top pie dish! Why is it that all the restaurants have to change the "nostalgia"? Bring back the cool stools too! For that matter bring back the $1.50 Filet Mignon. Yeeppee!

Great Value!
Ate at one of the South Atlanta Waffle Houses for breakfast. I had the All Star breakfast including drink for $4.99! What a great value! Look at the "Manager's Special" board when you enter each store to check out the specials.

Pork Chops and Applesauce!
Minus the Applesauce; Add Hashbrowns instead! I had the pork chop dinner today in south Fayetteville. Richard cooked them to perfection! The waitress had just made the salads so it was fresh with tomatoes, carrots, cabbage. The hashbrowns were golden brown and I really believe the pork chop dinner is probably the best meal on the menu!

Friendly, Friendly, Friendly!
I have been frequenting a few Waffle House locations in south Atlanta over the years and there is one waitress who always seems to follow me. Her name is "Trish" and she has always been a great waitress with time to always chat and see how my day is going! Thanks Trish for making the mornings a great start!

You can eat heart healthy at Waffle House!
Two poached eggs; don't eat the yolk, wheat toast, a couple bites of grits and unsweet tea. Does not sound that great but it is pretty healthy!

Waffle House Valentines!
While eating breakfast this morning the husband of one of the Waffle House waitresses came walking in with a large "heart" balloon, a box of candy and delivers it with a kiss to his wife who is a waitress at Waffle House. Then another waitress from the back comes into the dining area with a dozen red roses which the husband had delivered and asked to bring in while he was there. His wife smiled and gave him another kiss!
Love at the Waffle House!

Educate yourself at Waffle House!
Today I had breakfast at WH and was able to meet a territory manager for a large food distributor. I learned a great deal about that industry speaking with this gentleman during breakfast. It is very interesting who you meet at WH. Name me another restaurant chain that provides as much opportunity to meet people and get to know them. Just about every chain has gone away from the counter service except WH. The seating arrangement creates an environment for meeting people and communication. I have met very interesting people while eating at various locations. It is the great American Diner!

Saturday Treat!
Today was a good day with two eggs (soft scrambled), bacon, hashbrowns, toast, unsweet tea. It is hard sometimes to actually get "soft" scrambled eggs. The ones served this morning were perfect. Share your best meal at Waffle House!

116 Waffle Houses to stay open under deal!
http://www.ajc.com/business/content/business/stories/2009/02/05/waffle_house_franchise.html
Waffle House took over the ailing franchisee locations, saved over 3,000 jobs and obviously saved thousands of Waffle House Lovers from depression! Could you imagine 116 vacant Waffle House locations? That would be a depressing sight.
Thanks for the hard work all of the people working to keep the units open. That was a huge business challenge. I personally know what it is like to renew or renegogiate one lease; they had to deal with 60 individual Landlords. I believe all of this was done in less than three months. Great Work and thanks for keeping the yellow sign up and shining bright!

Encouragement Meeting!
I actually had a friend of mine buy my breakfast at Waffle House this morning! We ate and encouraged each other during these challenging economic times. The staff was very friendly and the food was great! My buddy had a Fiesta omelette with hamburger instead of ham. I had an old fashioned hold the yolk omelette.

It takes a lot of Waffles!
If you ever thought about working in the food industry and you enjoy people check this out:
I spoke with a manager in training at Waffle House. For those with interest the management program seems to be very good! Pay is in the mid $30K range while training and when a store is assigned it bumps up to low $40K with bonuses which increases annual pay to an average of around $54K. It would seem to be a time intensive position but a person would definitely know how to run a restaurant and all its related parts after managing a Waffle House 24/7 and for the right person who is willing to work it should offer great advancement opportunities!

Great meeting today at Fayetteville, GA Waffle House!
Today I had a great meeting with accountant and discussed tax strategies. Friendly staff, great food, the cook "Sonya" at this location is outstanding. I don't remember ever having a bad meal delivered from her hands. I believe her mother is a chef so she grew up with cooking in her blood! It shows in her dedication cooking at Waffle House.
Anyway, today I had a Fiesta "old fashioned" omelet (hold the yolks), hashbrowns (in a ring) and wheat toast, unsweet tea. The diner is alive and well. I feel sorry for people who start their day with a bowl of cereal. That was me for years but not anymore!

Superbowl Sunday!
I stopped by the Waffle House in Union City, GA. Got an egg white and sausage sandwich on whole wheat toast. I always ask for extra pickles. I don't know why I like that with pickles but man it was good. Their unsweet tea was good today also!
Met a man who gave me a referral for a job. You never know who you will meet in a Waffle House!

The Great American Diner!
On your right is a photo of the original Waffle House, located at 2719 East College Avenue in Decatur, which opened Labor Day 1955! What a Labor Day!
Now it is 2009 and at least twice a week it is 7:30am, I am sitting at the counter watching the grill operator do his/her thing, talking with regulars while at the same time meeting new people stopping by on their way to work, waiting for my favorite Waffle House breakfast; two poached eggs, wheat toast, hashbrowns in a "ring", bacon and unsweet tea! (hey, I am middled age; you youngsters tell me about all the scattered, smothered, covered, chunked, diced, etc. food you eat so I can wish for the younger days when I had lower cholesterol).
Waffle House is my time to gather thoughts, plan my day and hopefully encourage someone at the counter! Please share your favorite items and experiences at what I feel is still the Great American Diner!
